Dungeon of the Past offers an “extreme 2D” perspective, like the games of old! This pack is perfect for those who want a simple look and feel to their game.
The tileset offers Ruins, caves, decals, furniture, and other items.
Here is a story I wrote to demonstrate what can be done with this tileset. (Look at screenshot 1 for reference)
You’ve found an abandoned entryway and decide to enter, and you move down the ladder on the other side. There are two ways to go, and you decide to go right, which leads you to a rather large room with crates, a table, and even a bed! “Who would want to live down here!?” You think to yourself, confused. Worried that whoever this belongs to may still be around, you move out. You head back on the path that lead you to this room, and back to where you came. There is something on the floor you missed when you came in- a chest! As you get closer you see a hint of red next to it and go to inspect. “This is… blood? I wonder what happened here…”. Concerned, you forget about the chest and continue on to try and find whoever may be in here.
As you move south, you see the dungeon slowly turns to dirt and rock. Maybe it was mined out and intended to be part of the built up dungeon? Who knows. As you move onward, you hear a faint whistling in front of you, and an old rope bridge that looks… Well, less than safe. As you go over the bridge, you look down to the depths below, and realize one small misstep spells certain death.
You finally make it to the other side as beads of sweat roll down your face. You look around and see an old hay bed covered in more blood. “Whatever happened here, it wasn’t nice. Who knows how long ago this took place, but I better stay on guard” you say to yourself. There are old crates and barrels filled with junk and rotting supplies and then you see it- a hatch. It leads down further into the ruin. “Whatever did this is surely down there” you say, as you slowly descend the ladder into darkness…
And there we go. I put many hours into this simple, but nice tileset. If you enjoy the style, keep an eye out. More is coming soon!
